Jumping (跳躍 Chōyaku) is a 1984 experimental short film produced by Tezuka Productions and Directed by Takayuki Matsutani. It was one of many experimental films by Tezuka. The film shows the first person perspective of a person jumping through a city.


Plot[]

The plot is told from the first person perspective of an unnamed protagonist. The film begins with the protagonist jumping up and down an empty suburban street, as he jumps he continues to travel higher and higher ans as he does he witnesses more grotesque and disturbing scenes a metaphor on mankind's own destruction.

Production[]

The production of Jumping began with Tezuka's desire to experiment with animation. Tezuka stated he had grown tired of producing mass market animation and wished to explore it at a more experimental level, he also stated he wished other animators would also begin to experiment.
